Recently, various kinds of monsters have been flocking to this place, wanting to play a terrifying version of tag with the boy, in which his life and sanity are at stake.
Knock-knock is a two-dimensional game in which we control the aforementioned boy. Every night, our task is to survive until dawn and at the same time maintain our sanity. Uninvited guests will slowly approach the house and look for an entrance. They will open windows, make holes in the walls or destroy doors. Such breaches in the defense must be patched up quickly, because otherwise we will be flooded with hordes of nightmarish visitors. In addition, our hero is physically and mentally weak, so direct confrontation with the monsters is a terrible idea. Instead, you have to hide from them and, if necessary, use the only weapon we have against the monsters, which is light. The boy is equipped with a small lamp, but it is not enough to survive. Instead, you have to make sure that as many rooms in the house are lit as possible, which prevents the monsters from entering. The catch is that every light that is turned on will go out after a while. The game therefore consists of nervous journeys around the house, patching up holes in the defense and turning on the lights. The boy is not an outstanding sprinter, however, and moves slowly. This makes the game more strategic, because often you can't do everything. Instead, you have to choose which problem is the most pressing.
The authors have prepared both a large cast of various monsters, each of which has its own skills and requires a different tactic, as well as a wide selection of helpful equipment, which is scattered randomly around the house every night. The game is made more attractive by the fact that the player can design the haunted house on their own. Each additional room increases the boy's health and makes it easier for him to avoid the monsters. All of this is accompanied by an extensive storyline. During the game, we will discover further information and parts of a larger puzzle, which will ultimately allow us to learn the truth about the house and the creatures haunting it.
